The Raleigh Police Memorial Foundation was founded in 2009 by a group of active and retired Raleigh police officers who are dedicated to honoring and remembering the Raleigh police officers who made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting and serving others.
The founders of the Raleigh Police Memorial Foundation participated in the Police Unity Tour, which is an annual bicycle ride to the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington, DC. The ride honors fallen officers and raises funds for the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund. The dream for the Foundation began in 2009 when the Raleigh officers who rode in this event returned with a vision to build a memorial that would honor the fallen Raleigh police officers and ensure that those officers who gave the ultimate sacrifice would never be forgotten.
